Ringing the Gotchnag

Ringing the Gotchnag is the story of two American missionary families in Turkey from 1855-1922. It not only tells the early story of American foreign missionary endeavors, it also examines how and why missionary policy changed over that period. The shift form evangelizing to the founding of educational and other institutions was not driven by a change in theology. Rather it grew out of the realities of missionary work on the ground. This book illustrates that shift through the life of two missionary families over two generations.
